On 28th of October 1892, Emile Reynaud presented his "Theatre Optique", the work made by by using hand-painted sequences on celluloid strips, in the Musee Grevin in Paris. It was the first public screening of animation with a cinematographic apparatus. In 2002, ASIFA (Association International du Film d'Animation) launched a global event to celebrate the art of animation. October 28th was proclaimed as International Animation Day (IAD) to encourage artists screening animated films, organizing workshops, exhibiting artwork and stills, providing technical demonstrations, and helping to promote the art of animation. Each year, ASIFA groups around the world celebrate International Animation Day (IAD). In 2005, more than 37 different countries in all the continents celebrated this day.
